Why do we serve?

  • James 1:27 "Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you."

  • Matthew 25:35-46, 40b "For I was hungry, and you fed Me. I was thirsty, and you gave Me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited Me into your home. I was naked, and you gave Me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for Me. I was in prison, and you visited Me.  I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these My brothers and sisters, you were doing it to Me!"

Would you like to be a part of serving the Omaha community in a meaningful way? Come join our Faith Journey family! Here are some ways that we have been serving recently:

Local ministries we support reaching out to the Omaha community:

  1. Open Door Mission - ( is a homeless shelter which supplies housing, meals, job skills training, furniture and clothes to those in need. There are various ways to serve at this location including sorting and organizing their donations, serving meals, babysitting, helping with worship services, or sharing job skills and computer training.

  2. Heartland Hope Mission - ( is the largest food pantry in Nebraska which shares a Bible message and offers food and clothing to those in need. They are open four times a week for people to get supplies, so they need administrative and hospitality gifted people to assist them in their mission. Also, they plan to move their equipment and donations to a much larger location soon so they will need help in that endeavor.

  3. Also, we have served at Release Inc. (Foster Care closet) ( which mentors and assists foster families to have the resources they need to thrive.

Non-local and global ministries we support:

  1. We participate in the Church of the Nazarene Care and Connection program.  This program of the Church of the Nazarene is a network of personal connections between missionaries and Nazarene districts around the world.  Our current recipient is Arnel and Inocencia Piliin from the Philippines. For more information about them please visit (

  2. Shechem Children's Home - ( which is a home for sexually exploited children in the Philippines.

  3. We sponsor 5 children in Bangladesh, Dominican Republic, and Guatemala through Nazarene Child Sponsorship. For more information on how to sponsor a child, visit (

  4. Missions Trips - Occasionally, members of our community participate in mission trips. In the recent past we have ministered in these locations:

    • South Dakota

    • Ecuador

    • Philadelphia

    • Oklahoma

    • The next scheduled work and witness trip will be in Sidney, NE at Table of Grace, a Nazarene compassionate ministry center. More information to follow.
